In Lu Zhang’s first series “Better Than Sex”, intense emotions and entangling thoughts are traced back to their prototypal form - primal energy, and expressed through simple shapes and basic colors - red, black, and white. The minimal information on a canvas forces viewers to concentrate on the seemingly random interactions and movements, which were created out of instinctive precision and meticulous reworking. The symbolic images evoke various, but inevitably profound, reactions in different viewers.
